On December 14, the Japan-Singapore Experts Level Meeting on Digital Economy Cooperation was held in an online format, and the outline is as follows.
This meeting was held based on the view shared by the leaders of the two countries to promote cooperation in the digital field, and was attended by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Secretariat for Council for the Realization of the Vision for a Digital Garden City Nation, the Personal Information Protection Commission, the Financial Services Agency, the Digital Agency, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Tourism Agency, and others from Japan, and the Smart Nation Digital Government Office, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Communications and Information, the Infocomm Media Development Authority and others from Singapore.
At the meeting, both sides exchanged views on digital identity, digitalization in government, cross-border paperless trade and trade facilitation, collaboration between the Digital Garden City Nation and the Smart Nation Initiative, artificial intelligence, personal data protection and cross-border data flows/data connectivity, and technology in financial services.
Both sides introduced their initiatives in various fields and exchanged views on possible Japan-Singapore digital cooperation. Both sides affirmed to continue to collaborate in this field hereafter.
