OPPO joins Cloud Native Computing Foundation as Gold Member
OPPO, as global technology company is participating the CNCF community and announcing that cloud native storage project CubeFS, has moved to Incubation
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – July 4, 2021 – OPPO today announced about joining The Cloud Native Computing Foundation® (CNCF®), which builds sustainable ecosystems for cloud native software as a Gold member. As the leading maintainers and contributors of the CubeFS project, this move comes in coordination with the project’s acceptance into the CNCF Incubator.
As one of the global technology companies, OPPO is present in more than 60 countries and regions, with more than 40,000 employees dedicated to creating a better life for customers globally. Based on cloud technology, OPPO has been a strong proponent of advancing cloud native technologies, focusing on the Internet of Experience (IoE), empowering pan-terminal products and providing reliable service for its user base.
“Since October 2021, OPPO has been the main contributor and maintainer of CubeFS, a distributed file system for cloud native applications, and as a result have become increasingly implicated in the development of the cloud native ecosystem,” said Haifeng Liu, Vice President of OPPO AI and Data Engineering System. “We hope that by becoming a CNCF Gold member we can provide resources and support that will help continue driving innovation in the cloud native community. We look forward to working with diverse and talented developers across the world.”
With CubeFS’ incubation, OPPO will continue to participate in the project and unite with community members to promote CubeFS to graduation, aiming to build a healthy and sustainable technology ecosystem. CubeFS is a cloud native storage platform that provides both POSIX-compliant and S3-compatible interfaces, helping separate storage from compute to provide total flexibility in matching resources to the actual storage and compute capacity required at any given time.
“OPPO has been instrumental in making CubeFS a viable CNCF incubating project, enabling the underlying storage infrastructure for online applications, database and/or data processing services and machine learning jobs orchestrated by Kubernetes,” said Chris Aniszczyk, CTO, CNCF. “We are happy to see OPPO’s interest in further contributing to the cloud native ecosystem and look forward to collaborating together.”
